February 28, 2009
Sponsored by the Ohio Biological Survey & the Ohio Division of Wildlife

The 5th annual Ohio Natural History Conference will take place on February 28, 2009 at The Ohio Historical Society, 1982 Velma Avenue (intersection of I-71 and E. 17th Avenue). Directions are given below. Encompassing the broad range of topics inherent in the term “natural history,” the conference includes short papers in areas such as biodiversity, field biology, taxonomy and systematics, biogeography, and related areas such as anthropology, geology, physical geography, and hydrology. From the abstracts for oral presentations already submitted, seven (7) will be selected by the Conference Committee for inclusion in the Conference. All applicants will be notified by December 19th of the Committee’s decisions, and a conference agenda will be available shortly thereafter. Submissions for poster presentations will be accepted through January 30th, 2009.

We are pleased to announce our keynote speaker, Gary Meszaros, presenting “Endangered Species of Ohio”.  Mr. Meszaros is a resident of northeast Ohio and a renowned nature photographer.  His photographs have graced numerous books and magazines, including Smithsonian, National Wildlife, National Parks Magazine, Natural History and Timeline.  Refreshments and social time will begin at 9:00, and the keynote presentation will commence at 10 AM.  The auditorium and a display area will be available for oral and poster presentations, respectively.  Registrations fees are $20, or $10 for students.  Lunch will be available for an additional $10, and choices are indicated below.  On-site registration fees are the same, but no lunch will be available. The Conference concludes at 4 PM.

Please let others know about this annual event - an OBS tradition. We hope to see you there!
